July jobless rates down in 30 states, up in 9; payroll jobs up in 40 states, down in 1
In July, unemployment rates were lower in 30 states, higher in 9 states, and stable in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 40 states and the District, decreased in 1 state, and was essentially unchanged in 9 states.
