Las Montañas Charter High School students interested in a career in the education industry are invited to attend the Youth Education Industry Forum on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Las Montañas in Las Cruces from 9AM to 12PM.
When people think about a career in education, they often think of teachers. At this forum, students will hear from a panel of local education industry professionals about different occupation available in education.

YOUTH EDUCATION INDUSTRY FORUM PANELISTS:

Mr. Martinez is a graduate of NMSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health Education, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction, and he completed his coursework in the Administrative Licensure Program. Mr. Martinez is a 1993 graduate of Roswell High School in Roswell, NM. He began his teaching career with Las Cruces Public Schools where he taught Social Studies for eight years and was an assistant boy’s basketball and tennis coach. Mr. Martinez works closely with Safer Choices to deliver Health Education instruction to his students and will continue to do so. He was the dean of students and helped assist Mr. Robinson for six years with administration duties. For the last four years, Mr. Martinez has held the position of Executive Director. Continues to work with all administrative duties that will help achieve the mission and learning goals of Las Montañas Charter High School.

Eric Ahner is an educator with over 30 years of experience, has served as the Executive Director of J. Paul Taylor Academy for 7 years, and 14 years as a charter Director in New Mexico. He is a University of Arizona undergraduate and gained his Education Leadership degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. He is passionate about public education in New Mexico and believes every student deserves a fair opportunity for a good education that prepares students for either the workforce or higher education.
