Dec. jobless rates down in 19 states, up in 12; payroll jobs up in 15 states, down in 11
In December, unemployment rates were lower in 19 states, higher in 12 states and the District of Columbia, and stable in 19 states. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 15 states, decreased in 11 states, and was essentially unchanged in 24 states and the District.
