Starting at 1:30p.m. today, Wednesday, April 8, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) will be offering one time stimulus payment in the amount of $750 each to self-employed individuals affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The Self-Employed Stimulus Payment (SESP) will be available to the first 2,000 applicants that qualify. The opportunity is funded by $1.5 Million from the Rapid Response Layoff Aversion program under the directive of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

NMDWS announces help and resources for workers affected by COVID-19
Extended Unemployment Insurance Operations Center hours, waiting week waived, auto-adjudication, and virtual town hall
(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has heard the concerns from workers affected by COVID-19 and are implementing changes to increase access for New Mexicans applying for Unemployment Insurance (UI).
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8, 2020, the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center will implement extended hours. The Operations Center will open at 7am and take calls until 7pm for the rest of the week. ... Continue Reading

Things to note:The department now has an official Facebook page @NMDepartmentofWorkforceSolutions Tonight, the department will host a Virtual Town Hall on FAQ’s, how the department is responding to affected workers concerns, and answering live questions. This will be directly available to 1,000 participants via zoom and also simulcast on NMDWS Facebook live. Extended UI Operations Center hours will be in effect Wednesday-Friday this week, 7am-7pm. A strategy to extend hours beyond this week and on weekends will be announcement on Friday, April 10. Some new information includes:The amended public health order further restricts business operations as a means of combating continued congregating in spaces outside the home. The order is effective 8 a.m., April 7. The amended order includes a new requirement that all retail operations that are considered essential businesses – including grocery stores – shall limit occupancy in their retail spaces. The Department of Health has recommended that New Mexicans wear cloth, non-medical masks when traveling outside the home for essential outings in alignment with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
